Hi Everyone,

 

Shakespeare by the Bow’s annual pay-what-you-will theatre on Prince’s Island Park is starting to wind down for the year, so make sure to check it out before August 20th. This year’s performance is “The Two Gentlemen of Verona”, running Tuesday to Saturday at 7 pm, and Sundays at 2 pm and 7pm.

 

Supported Lifestyles has another round of personal development classes coming up. These classes include: Women’s Group, Sexual Education, Anger Management, Men’s Group and BUDS group. Please see the attachments for more info about these classes.  

 

FREE:

 

Aug 9: Taste of Calgary @ Eau Claire Plaza (Barclay Parade & 3 ST SW) 11am-9pm. Admission is free, but tasting tickets cost $1 each, and dishes will require multiple tickets. There will be live music, as well.

 

Aug 10: Inglewood Night Market @ Inglewood (Along 10th Ave, 10th St & 11 St) 5-11pm. Vendors, food trucks, live music.

 

Aug 11-12: Calgary Dragon Boat Race and Festival @ North Glenmore Park (7305 Glenmore Park SW) Cheer on the competitors and experience the full festival.

 

Aug 12: Music in the Park: A Taste of the Caribbean @ South Glenmore Park (8415 25 St SW) Noon-2pm. The Carican Steelband will perform. Food trucks will be on site.

 

Aug 12: Marda Gras Street Festival @ Marda Loop (33 Ave SW between 18St & 22St.) All of the info on the 34th year of this festival can be found at https://www.visitmardaloop.com/events/marda-gras-street-festival/

 

PAID:

 

Aug 6: Heritage Day @ Heritage Park 10am-5pm. Regular admission rates apply.  Live music, BBQ, scavenger hunt, drumming, dancing & games.

 

Aug 7: LGBTQ+ Lawn Bowling @ Inglewood Lawn Bowling Club (1235 8 Ave SE) $10 drop in, there is a community dinner at 6pm that costs and additional $7, games run from appx. 7-9pm.  come a bit early if you need to learn how to play. Flat-soled shoes only.

 

Aug 9: Adults Only Night: Through the Haze @ Telus SPARK Science Centre (220 St George’s Dr NE) 6-10pm.  This event is “your chance to learn more about the myths and science behind marijuana and its effects, since it is being legalized for recreational use in Canada”. Regular admission rates apply, you can also sign out one of CASS’ community connections passes to get up to 6 people in for free. You may want to get your tickets in advance, as these night programs regularly sell out.
