The 2018 Disability Pride Parade is coming closer! This year is going to be amazing, and in the lead up to the Parade we will have lots of opportunities for anyone who wants to participate to decorate signs, make art, and get ready to celebrate Disability Pride! The Parade itself will be on Sunday, June 3rd, so save that date on your calendars, and check this events listing next week for when we can make art together! Please make sure that you register to attend the event by going to so that the organizers can be prepared for the number of people coming!

Did you know that all Calgary Stampeders games have non-ticketed spots for people who use wheelchairs? If you call the Ticket office at (403) 289-0248 on the Monday Prior to any regular game, you can reserve a spot for yourself and an attendant for only $5. These spots go VERY fast, so call right when they open at 9! And don’t forget about Fanfest on May 12th! Free breakfast, live entertainment, and sports, sports, sports.

On May 8 & 10, ‘Good Grief: Nature Walking Through Grief and Loss’ will be starting up, meeting at Bow Valley Ranch, Fish Creek Provincial Park (15975 Bow Bottom Tr SE). These are the first of an 8-week series of walks, Tuesdays from 6:30-8 pm, or Thursdays 10-11:30 am. These gentle walks are meant to bring people together to move through shared experiences of loss. The cost for all 8 weeks is $25 and you will get a copy of “Calgary’s best walks” by local author Lori Beattie. has all of the details and how to register.



May 14: Search for life in space @ Cardel Theatre (180 Quarry Park Blvd) 7-8 pm. This presentation “takes us on a journey around the cosmos” via telescopes and rover data.

May 16: Enjoying the Night Sky from Your Backyard @ Cardel Theatre (180 Quarry Park Blvd SE) 7:30pm. The star man himself, Don Hladiuk, will give you the low down on the up above.


May 15: Embrace Gardening: Edible Gardening Fundamentals @ Sunalta Community Hall (1627 10 Avenue SW) 6:30-9pm. Admission is $10. Get solid, localized info for edible gardening in Calgary. Please register at

May 18-20: Otafest 2018 @ Telus Convention Centre (120 9 Ave SE) Calgary’s Premier Anime Festival is back! Tickets range from $25-45, or you can volunteer to help support the event in other ways if you can’t afford the tickets. has all of the schedules and information.

May 18-19: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone @ Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium (1415 14 Ave NW). The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra is bringing the movie of “the boy who lived”, to life for three performances. Tickets start at $25. For more info, visit
