Here are some ideas for outings and fun things for the week of November 12 - 18:

FREE:

  • November 12 - 17 (times vary - see link): Marda Loop Justice Film Festival – discover and explore big topics through film as the Marda Loop Justice Film Festival returns for its 14th year. This years festival will feature 13 full-length documentaries and two short films by filmmakers from around the world - varying from human rights and social justice to aboriginal affairs and environmental issues.   • November 12 (6:00pm-9:00pm): Startup Calgary Launch  - at the Bowness Community Association, head to the charming northwest community to browse over 100 local vendors. You can expect Christmas cards, holiday decorations, homemade food items, hand-crafted jewellery and clothing, books, visual art, photography and more! There will also be photos with Santa, a 50/50 draw and food and beverage sold. 

  • November 16 (10:00am-4:00pm): SAAA fall Art Show - at Holy Cross Anglican Church, the Southern Alberta Artist Alliance is once again hosting its annual fall show and sale. Artists will be on site to chat with visitors about their work across a variety of mediums and there will be a door prize. Parking is free.

  • November 16 & 17 (12:00pm-4:00pm): Blown Glass Sale & Glassblowing Shows -  at Bee Kingdom Glass (427 22 Ave NW), join them for a weekend-long show and sale. There will be works like Christmas balls and one-of-a-kind sculptures.
  • November 16 (7:00pm): Lynne Hanson - at The Gallery House, Canadian singer-songwriter Lynne Hanson is in the house.

PAID:

  • Calgary Farmyard (Formerly Calgary Corn Maze) -  a fun place to go for all, about 10 mins southeast of Calgary. For more information on what's going on each week: https://www.calgaryfarmyard.com/fall-season Admission: online: $14.95, gate: $16.95
  • November 12 (times vary): Marda Loop Justice Film Festival -  at Globe Cinema (617 8 Ave SW), there will be a variety of European Films at different venues to see! Admission: Prices vary - see link:

  • November 13, 14, 15, 1  (times vary): A Christmas Story - At Rosebud Theatre, Bob Clark's 1983 holiday classic is taking stage. Admission: varies. For more information: https://www.rosebudtheatre.com/shows/a-christmas-story
  • November 13, 14, 15 (6:30pm): Trafficked Film Screenings - The film Trafficked will screening thrice in Calgary to help raise awareness around human trafficking and funds for the RESET Society of Calgary. Based on true stories. Admission: $15 - for tickets and more information:

  • November 14 - 16: Tokyo Steeze Ramen Pop-Up - at Shelter (1210 1 St SW), there will be three days of ramen as part of the recurring pop-up program. This menu will feature three kinds of tonkotsu (pork and dashi broth) ramen, fried chicken and pork belly side plates. For information on pricing and venues: https://shelteryyc.com/schedule/
  • November 14 (7:00pm): Stand-up Comedy at Born Colorado Brewing - atBorn Colorado Brewing (4, 313 36 Ave SE), popular local comedian Todd Ness will headline an evening of stand-up comedy. Admission: $20.
  • November 15 (7:00pm): Alex Cuba- at Festival Hall (1215 10 Ave SE), Canadian-Cuban artist Alex Cuba will bring his blend of Latin-American genres and sounds to Calgary in support of his new album Sublime. Admission: $20
  • November 15 (7:30pm): Derek Selinger's "The Gift" - prepare to be amazed as Calgary master magician Derek Selinger performs his theatrical spectacle "The Gift." The award-winning illusionist has vowed audiences around the world with his smooth style and mastery of the craft. Admission: $30-50.
  • November 16 (10:00am-3:00pm): 12th Annual Holiday Fair Supporting RESET Society of Calgary - at Wild Rose United Church, get into the holiday spirit at this craft and bake sale featuring home-based business, handmade crafts, local artisans, home-baked goods and more. Admission: $2
  • November 17 (7:30pm): Calgary Youth Orchestra -  at Bella Concert Hall, take in an evening of varying musical flavors from throughout history and around the globe in this performance from the Calgary Youth Orchestra. Admission: $15-20
  • November 17 (8:30pm): Bill Nye the Science Guy -  at Jubilee Auditorium, entertainer and scientist Bill Nye will appear! For more information and admission: https://www.facebook.com/events/487912451764667/
