Hi Everyone, 

There will be another Disability Pride Parade on Sunday June 9! If you were there last year, the route and party location remain the same, if you weren’t and you want to check it out this year, the parade will start at Banker’s Hall (315 8 Ave SW) at 11am, and will make its way to Olympic Plaza for speeches, entertainment, free snacks, and celebration. Find out more at . there will be art supplies set up at the office from June 5 to 7, and an art party on June 5th from 10 am-1pm. for you to get creative and make your own banners, placards, and art to bring with you, or send with someone else to use in the parade.

Thanks to everyone who entered the draw for two tickets to the Stamps game on May 31st, I have emailed the winners. Have fun at the game!

May 30: Little Free Pantry Learning Session @ Ironwood Stage 7 grill (1229 9 Ave SE) 5:30-7pm. learn about this community project and how you can get funding to help the people  in your neighbourhood keep a free food pantry going. Presented by First Calgary Financial. Please register through

May 31: Cancer 101: Causes to Cures @ Studio Bell (850 4 St SE) 5-8pm. Learn about trends in cancer diagnosis, treatment, and new developments from some of Calgary’s top cancer researchers through the University of Calgary.  Please register through

May 31: Artist Reception @ Arts Commons (205 8 Ave SE) 7-10pm. Meet and learn more about the artists whose work is displayed in the +15 galleries around the Arts Commons. Light refreshments will be provided.

May 31: Calgary Night Market @ Bridgeland Riverside Community Association (917 Centre Ave NE) 4-10pm. Handmade and local goods, DJ’s, soft lighting.

Jun 1: Ukrainian Festival @ Acadia Recreation Complex (240 90 Ave SE) 10am-1:30pm. Performances, marketplace, and a ton more.  

Jun 1: Rhubarb Fest @ Southwood Community Association (11 Sackville Dr SW) Live music, activities, beer garden, and a BBQ (you will need to bring cash if you want to get in on the BBQ). The Rhubarb is coming!

Jun 1: YYC Seniors Garage Sale @ Confederation Park 55+ Club (2212 13 St NW) 8 am-3pm. Massive garage sale in support of the 55+ club.

Jun 1-7: Empathy week @ various locations. Multiple events will be happening each day, and most are free. You can find out more at

Jun 2: Lilac Festival @ 4th St SW in Mission. 10am-6pm. Tons of people, booths, and multiple music stages full of great local acts.

Jun 2: Two Wheel Sunday @ 5 St NE (Greenview Industrial) 10am-3pm. Motorcycle groups, shops, riders and enthusiasts will meet up and enjoy the day



May 30: Alberta Native Bee Council Seminar @ The Wild Bird Store (5901 3 St SE) 5-7pm. Admission is $10. Learn about bumblebee housing, helpful plants, and citizen science.

May 30- Jun 9: FunnyFest Comedy Festival @ various Locations. Single show admission is $20, although you might be able to find some free shows. Find out more at

Jun 1: Panel One Comic Creator Festival @ HIllhurst Sunnyside Community Association (1320 5 Ave NW) 11am-7pm. Learn more about local comic creators, or show your own work. Tickets are $5.

Jun 2: Give a Mile Picnic in the Park @ Marda Loop Community Association (3130 16 St SW) 2-4:30 pm. There will be a petting zoo, entertainment, and more. Admission is $20 and all proceeds will go toward the Give a Mile project, which helps people visit terminally ill friends and family members. Learn more about Give a Mile here:
